.... News....
Romsey Community Pre-School
Romsey Community Pre-School offers education, fun and care for children over 2years
9months.
It is accredited by the Pre-School
Learning Alliance in addition to Ofsted
inspections.
The Pre-School offers places to 26 children each session with a high ratio of
adults to children.
A staff of 4 work with the children every day and a fifth staff member supports
them 3 sessions a week.
Every child has a keyworker or
Key Person
. Throughout the year this keyworker follows the
development of the children on their table, creating a record of achievement and
play plan for every child.
Areas of development
A wide variety of play activities encourage the children to progress in the 6
areas of development outlined by Ofsted:
Ofsted:
* Personal, Social and Emotional development
* Communication, Language and Literacy
* Problem solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
* Knowledge and Understanding of the world
* Physical development
* Creative development
* Garden
The children have year-round access to the spacious outdoor play area which
includes a grassed area with planters for garden activities.
Early Years Education Scheme
Under this scheme all children aged three and four years are entitled to free part-time
nursery education, during term time.
From September 2010 the Government will be increasing the free, part-time early years'
education entitlement from 12.5 hours to 15 hours a week.
Our Pre-School is open during the Hampshire school term times only. Please see
http://www3.hants.gov.uk/20082009.pdf
Romsey Community Pre-School has volunteered to join the Pathfinder Project, now running
in 20 authorities, and will therefore be able to offer the 15 free hours a week as
from the 1st September 2009.
Parental Involvement
Parental involvement is welcomed with opportunities to help during sessions,
support fund raising events and join the committee.
A committee of volunteer parents runs the pre-school. The committee ensures that
major decision-making is in the hands of the parents who use the group. The
committee is also responsible for reviewing both policy and practice, and for
the employment and appraisal of members of staff. The committee also organizes
fun events such as the Christmas party and the Summer Outing.
